Chairman of the Committee on Public Enterprises Professor Ranjith Bandara lashed out at the Geological Survey & Mines Bureau (GSMB) for failing to address certain issues.
Dr. Bandara said the GSMB was one of the state enterprises against which there were many petitions, the Parliament said yesterday (07)
Officials of the GSMB appeared before COPE on 06 June.
The meeting commenced with the COPE Chairman pointing out that as per the Auditor General’s report, proper measures had not been adopted to rehabilitate lands that had been excavated.
On scrutiny of data with regards to licences, it was found that the proces of issuing licences was inconsistent with the governing Act.
