The Catholic Church in Mannar expects at least 300,000 devotees to take part in the annual Feast of Our Lady of Madhu. A discussion on providing the necessary facilities to the pilgrims took place at the Bishop’s House in Mannar on Wednesday (09) night.
The annual feast culminates following the religious ceremonies on 14 and 15.Devotees are already arriving at the shrine from all over the country.
A special train leaves Colombo Fort every day at 6.15 a.m. for Madhu.
During the meeting at the Bishop’s House in Mannar the security forces agreed to provide water and other sanitary facilities to devotees.Around 1,000 policemen will be deployed at Madhu during the feast.
