There was a lot of speculation about whether or not King Charles’ youngest son, Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan, would attend the coronation. The invites were sent out last week, and caused a lot of backlash, and there had been no news from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. King Charles’ guest list is also quite surprising as he has invited guests that will ‘outrank’ him.
The Palace confirmed Prince Harry’s attendance
It has just been announced that Prince Harry will attend his father’s coronation alone, while his wife, former Suits actress, Meghan Markle will stay at home in Montecito with their two children, Archie and Lilibet.
This announcement comes just after a royal commentator called Prince Harry ‘disgraceful’ for not supporting his father during a big moment of his life.
Meghan Markle is staying home for Archie’s birthday
It isn’t surprising that Meghan has chosen to stay in the US with the couple’s two young children as the coronation is on the same day as their son Archie’s fourth birthday.
This means that the Duke of Sussex will miss his son’s birthday unless the small family of four decide to celebrate his birthday early or late.
Yahoo royal editor Omid Scobie, who is also known to be Meghan’s friend, believes that Prince Harry will only be in the UK for the day of the actual coronation, May 6, and then fly straight back to California to be with his family. He said:
I understand that Archie’s fourth birthday played a factor in the couple’s decision.
